Thursday, January 24th, join Slow Food Portland as they gather at SPACE Gallery for the Annual Slow Food Portland Writers’ Night. Hear writers from Maine and beyond as they read from their works, and sample tastes from Maine’s soil and sea, with an array of cheeses and hors d’oeuvres inspired by our guest writers. This year’s line-up of includes:
Margaret Hathaway is a founding member of the Slow Food Portland convivium, and author of The Year of the Goat: 40,000 Miles in Search of the Perfect Cheese.
Culinary historian Sandy Oliver is editor and publisher of Food History News, and author of Saltwater Foodways, winner of the 1996 Jane Grigson Award for Scholarship of the Julia Child Cookbook Awards (now the IACP Awards).
James Peterson is the author of twelve books on cooking, technique and wine, including Sauces, Splendid Soups, Fish & Shellfish and his newest book, Cooking. He is the winner of two James Beard Foundation Awards, and one IACP Cookbook Award, and has been additionally nominated for three James Beard Foundation or IACP awards.
Melissa Pasanen & Rick Gencarelli are the authors of Cooking with Shelburne Farms: Food & Stories from Vermont. Shelburne Farms is a 1,400 acre working farm and National Historic Landmark with its restaurant dedicated to local and seasonal foods.
