About Slow Food Portland

Slow Food Portland is the local convivium, or chapter, of Slow Food USA, a 501(c)3 non profit organization dedicated to promoting the pleasures of the table and the benefits of eating local healthy foods in season, while preserving our regional culinary heritage.

Our History

The Slow Food Portland Maine Convivium (chapter) was established in 2005 by a group of local foodies, farmers and chefs. In our short history, our group has begun its own traditions, celebrating the rich culinary and agricultural heritage of Maine.

How do I Join or Get Involved?

There are no local membership dues. Members join the national organization, and in doing so, automatically become part of the local convivium. A portion of your membership dues will come back to the local chapter to help with our programs and events.

We welcome all with interest, regardless of membership in Slow Food USA, to our informal potlucks, educational tastings, book discussion group, and seasonal events.

We have several committees that meet regularly to work on events, education and outreach. If you are interested in getting involved or receiving more information, please email us at info@slowfoodportland.org
